ABOUT GURU CHANDAL YOGA

GURU CHANDAL YOGA

(A toxic combination of Guru (Jupiter), Rahu & Ketu)

between 22nd April and 30th October 2023 (six months period)

(To make a note and if possible, take precautions during the period)

I have been watching one of the programs on television on astrological forecast and they were talking about ‘Chandal Yoga’ being formed in the sky and its impact on individual’s life and the world in general. I have a bit of knowledge of astronomy and related subjects and thought of writing an article in easy language for those who have no clue about the astronomy and astrology and the celestial beings in the sky affecting our life on earth.

Here, I will fail in my knowledge, if I do not mention the existence of soul (Atma) in a body, which is the form of energy and keeps moving from the body to body as per our Sanchit (past) and Prarabdha (current) Karma

To create an analogy, the way every mobile phone signal is bar coded and transmitted to a distant mobile phone located in another part of the world without fail in the form of energy; the same way our karmic energy keeps travelling having bar codes of our deeds, in this life as well as deeds of past lives, in the form of energy.

The natal chart is a desktop and placement of lagnarashi and grahas (planets) in 12 houses of a natal chart, are software, which determines the strength, weaknesses and placement of our karmic energy generated in this life or past lives, in those houses. It is impossible to find two exactly similar natal charts due to the various determining factors. The way only an expert software programmer can explain how the desktop of a phone, laptop or computer is created, the same way only an astute or an expert astrologer can explain the meanings of such placements in the natal chart.

I have already written couple of articles related to the subject such as Philosophy of DestinyPhilosophy of LuckPhilosophy of LifePhilosophy of Mental Vagaries etc. and posted on my another blog called Eternal Feelings (www.sssinha.blogspot.ca).

To begin with and in order to understand the topic, we will have to understand what is Chandal Yoga or Guru Chandal Yoga and how it is related to our life. What is a natal chart, how the houses are drawn on a natal chart, what is Lagna and what is Rashi etc.

WHAT IS A NATAL CHART OR BIRTH CHART?

Natal Chart is a chart showing two-dimensional map of sky and placement of planets and constellations in a certain position in the sky at the time of birth of a living or non-living entity. The sky looks different from minute to minute from different places on earth due to the spinning of earth on its axis and movement of planets in sky. That is why the birth time determines the positioning of celestial beings in the sky. The place of birth of an entity depending upon its latitude and longitude determines the exact location of stars and planets at the time of birth. It is like taking a photograph of the sky at the time of one’s birth. But the naked eyes and cameras have their limitations.

The natal chart shows detailed information of the position of planets (12 in number), nakshatras (constellations) (27 of them) and 12 rashis (signs) which is the combination of stars forming in a shape or in a particular way in the sky. I am not going into too many details of natal chart or birth chart because those who do not have the basic knowledge of astronomy or astrology, may not find it interesting. If somebody wants more details, then this article may induce their interest for further research and study to know the working of this science including Vedic sciences, which has been in practice from thousands of years in the past.

In fact, the Panchang of Vedic Science or Almanac is having details of every inch of sky and our galaxy, their position and movement of stars, planets, and constellations from thousands of years, if not millions. The Saptarsi Panchang was originated in 6676 BCE which is 8,699 years from current year and Vikram Panchang was started in 57 BCE which is from last 2,080 years already. Vikram Panchang can be found in any temple in India or abroad.

The calculation of time, position and movement of planets, stars, constellations in the sky, the effect and duration of cosmic rays falling on earth, time taken for spinning and rotation of earth, resulting seasons, sunrise and sunset time, good time or bad time or Muhurat etc. have been so perfect and precisely mentioned in a Panchang from thousands of years in past, that it is startling and jaw dropping. It would be quite interesting if one can read and understand it.

People knowing about ancient Indian history and scriptures, recognise that making and calculation of a natal chart was done based on Vedic Science as early as Ramayana period when Maharishi Vasistha prepared the natal charts of lord Rama and his brothers upon their birth, and that’s how we have been celebrating Ramnavami every year in India and abroad. Even in Mahabharata period, on the death bed under open sky, Bhisma Pitamah explained the name and position of different stars and planets in the sky and on that basis, modern historians were able to track the exact date of Mahabharata war.

WHAT IS LAGNA AND RASHI (Sun Sign or Moon Sign)?

LAGNA:  This is the first (1st) house and the primary reference point in a natal chart and known as Ascendant. It is marked in a birth chart as ‘AS’’ in English or ‘LA’ in Sanskrit word. Lagna can be best defined as the exact first moment of contact between the Soul (newly born baby) and its new life on Earth. It changes every two hours, which means that the Ascendant during the time of the birth of an individual remains only for two hours. The planet representing the Lagna Lord is the most favourable and powerful one in the natal chart. It plays a crucial role in forecasting fame, and reputation in society, success parameter, worldly outlook, etc.

RASHIIt is determined by the position of Moon at the time of an individual’s time of birth. It indicates the behaviour and personality of a person, emotions and inner mood, inherent attributes, destiny, compatibility with other people, and personality traits.

Moon stays every two and a half days and passes through all 12 signs of the zodiac every 27 and 1/3 daysSun stays for one month in each of 12 zodiac signs and completes its journey in a year. Therefore, zodiac predictions based on Sun Sign is broader and more general in nature, whereas predictions made based on Moon Sign is more narrowed down and precise, if used in conjunction with Lagna

·      According to some, Lagna makes 70% impacts on one’s life and Rashi 30%, whereas other considers Rashi or Nakshatras as the determining factors in a person’s natal chart. However, the best way is to consider both, while calculating the present or future events.

·      The Lagna changes every two hours in a sign, whereas Rashi is a sign where Moon is situated at the time of birth. Since the Moon remains in a sign for two and a half days and the Sun stays for the whole month, this is why people have common Moon signs and Sun signs, but it is rare for people to have the same Lagna.

·    Lagna is known to signify an individual’s entire body and personality, whereas Rashi represents the individual’s mind and soul.

·      Rashi controls an individual’s reactions to the different circumstances in life and how we handle them in life, whereas Lagna is analyzed before any auspicious occasions like marriage. Lagna can help in ascertaining success or failure in significant events. This is why Lagna is generally checked before marriage.

·      Lagna and Rashi both go hand in hand and are often of huge importance in various phases and moments in our lives. The two together can help derive an individual’s true nature and life path.

WHAT IS GURU CHANDAL YOGA?

On April 22ndJupiter (Guru) will transit into Aries where Rahu (Shadow Planet) and Ketu are already present. The conjunction of these two planets creates the Guru Chandal Yoga. This conjunction creates a unique planetary combination that has both positive and negative effects depending upon the position of Jupiter and Rahu in individual’s natal chart. Incidentally, Sun which represents name, fame, position, and power also transiting to Aries today, that is 14th of April,2023 and there is a Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) on April 20th, 2023. And this solar eclipse will happen when it would be transiting through Aries where malefic planets like Rahu, Ketu are already there, and Saturn (Sani) is aspecting them. As such, the positive effects of Sun will also get debilitated and will create overall adverse effects all over the world.

Jupiter is considered the planet of knowledge, wisdom and spirituality and is considered very auspicious, while Rahu is known for its destructive tendencies and illusions. The combination of these two planets creates a complex energy that can manifest in different ways depending on the zodiac signs and the houses (of natal chart) they cast shadow.

The positive effects of Jupiter starts decreasing. The shadow planet Rahu diminishes the auspicious effects of Jupiter and when this happens then various types of negative effects one may feel in one’s life.

Points to note is that the Guru Chandal Yoga starting from April 22nd to October 30th, 2023, is said to be more significant for AriesGemini and Sagittarius moon signs people, and they need to be alert and be careful. No great misfortune is awaiting, but one may be little careful in relationships, workplace, communication and day to day affair.

·      * Generally, the combination of the planet Guru and Rahu is malefic.

·    * In case of Positive Mahadasha (a period under the influence of a particular planet in a natal chart), there will be no extreme malefic effects.

·   * However, the positive or negative results of the Guru Chandal Yoga completely depends upon the position and strength of the planet Jupiter in your natal chart.

·   * The depth of the effect of Guru Chandal Dosh solely depends upon the position of Jupiter and Rahu in different houses (of natal chart) in different conditions.

·   * Although Guru Chandal Dosh is always adverse, the other planets do simultaneously influence this Dosh either positive or negative.

HOW DO WE CONSIDER THE EFFECTS OF GURU CHANDAL DOSH IN AN INDIVIDUAL’S LIFE?

The effect of Guru Chandal Dosh can be considered by looking into the transition of individual Lagna and or Moon Rashi in an individual’s natal chart, and the affected house of the natal chart it represents.

There are 12 houses in a natal chart, and they represent different fields of experience wherein the energies of the Lagna, Rashi and Planets operate together. These 12-houses focus on enlightening one’s inner state of mind, experience, temperaments, and relationships with the outside world. Nature and characteristics of these 12 houses in short are as follows:

·   1st house ruled by Aries is also called the Rising Sun or Ascendent (As) represents the Self, first impressions, personality, appearance, temperament, ego, new beginnings, and outlook towards life.

·       2nd house ruled by Taurus represents core values, personal possession, finances, and self-esteem.

·       3rd house ruled by Gemini pertains to all types of communications like, thinking, talking and siblings.

·    4th house ruled by Cancer represents home & family, parents and especially mother and her impact in early days of childhood, vehicles, property etc.

·    5th house ruled by Leo is associated with education, children, creativity, romance, and pleasures. It governs self-esteem, all kinds of leisure pursuits, drama, love affairs, etc.

·        6th house ruled by Virgo relates to work and health including fitness, diet, illness, diseases, hygiene etc.

·    7th house ruled by Libra represents partnership, marriage, marital relationships and governs business deals, contracts etc.

·      8th house ruled by Scorpio pertains to shared resources and transformation, sexuality, death, and rebirth etc.

·      9th house ruled by Sagittarius is associated with higher education, travel, philosophy, spiritual learning, ethics and morals, foreign languages, luck, risk, and adventure.

·   10th house ruled by Capricorn represents career and public image and the influence of father since childhood.

·      11th house ruled by Aquarius pertains to social networks and friendship. Roles undertaken throughout life as a husband, partner, wife, friend, or businessman. It also rules eccentricity, sudden events, surprises, invention, originality, and anything futuristic.

·     12th house ruled by Pieces represents spirituality and subconscious patterns. It is the house of self-undoing and karma. Matters related to the psyche, prisons, and hospitals. Self-indulgence leading to substance abuse and enlightenment, motivation, and healing.

Now, to assess the effects of Guru Chandal Yoga, we need to ascertain which house of natal chart as per their Lagna, would be influenced for good or bad during the period as mentioned above. Accordingly, we may take certain precautions according to the nature and character of the houses (of chart).

Name of Lagna and their corresponding house being influenced by Guru Chanadal Yoga is given hereunder. I am only mentioning the name of houses and not making any predictions, as it is the job of an expert to calculate the exact effects. However, you may check the relevant house according to your moon sign and take proper care related to the aspects of that house.

1.     Aries (Mesh) – 1st house

2.     Tauras  (Vrishabh) – 12th house

3.     Gemini (Mithun) – 11th house

4.     Cancer (Kerka) – 10th house

5.     Leo (Simha) – 9th house

6.     Virgo (Kanya) – 8th house

7.     Libra (Tula) – 7th house

8.     Scorpio – (Vrishchik) – 6th house

9.     Sagittarius (Dhanu) – 5th house

10.  Capricorn (Makar) – 4th house

11.  Aquarius (Kumbha) – 3rd house

12.  Pieces (Meen) – 2nd house

Again, the bad or good effects during this period will vary depending upon the individual natal chart, identification of Lagna, positioning of Sign or Rashi and Planets in different houses and their relationships with each other and placement of each planet in individual house. Since their position in sky keeps changing constantly, therefore only an expert astrologer can predict their actual effects, which day or month is good or bad for an individual.

I wish you all a very good luck and hope you will take some precautions during this period to ward off malefic effects of Guru Chandal Yoga, if any. For empowering the positive energy within us and staying away from the possible negative effects, we may pray Hanuman ji or our Istha deva /devi or the divine power of our choice during the period, for calming down the negative energy affecting us or going to affect us, if at all.
